Boy-o survived his heart catheterization on Wednesday and we came out with a renewed appreciation for both the skill of the doctors at University of Iowa Children’s Pediatric Cardiology, and the fine people at Pixar. Despite the fact that they are well on their way to turning my eldest son into a Nascar(TM) fan. How else to get a 2 year old to remain flat on his back for 6 hours, than with a cut-rate comedian and enough engine revving to choke the CG-version Al Gore?
The news from the cath was good - things are stable, and there is no need to start planning a transplant just yet. It’s as good as we could have possibly hoped. Nonetheless, you might assume that we’d had our fill of hospitals this month.
Apparently, you’d be wrong.
This morning, no doubt feeling both invincible and overjoyed at his good fortune at having a mother who can be bullied into making lunch at 10:15am, Boy-o decided to do a bit of couch jumping in celebration of the forthcoming egg sandwich. So being in the kitchen making 3rd breakfast/1st lunch, I missed the really fun part where he somehow managed to leave the couch head-first, using the coffee table to break his fall.
The blood was quite copious, and the super fun trip to the ER has bought us Boy-o’s first two stitches since he was a newborn! Right in the middle of his forehead, natch. The really cool part is how you can see the line going all across his forehead and eyebrow in the exact shape of the coffee table’s corner. Also cool? He is off showers and bathing for yet another 5 days. Feeling faint? Come smell my kid! If that doesn’t wake you up, nothing will!
Remember me?

So. Yeah. I’ve been doing a bit of thinking.
I can’t quite decide what to do with this blog. Lately I’ve been focused on some different things… like crochet, and the Crochet Revolution. And I’ve written up a couple of patterns. And I think I’d like to share them. But do I do that here, or do I start a second blog to neglect? I’m not sure, but I think the face of this blog may change a little bit. I don’t plan on deleting old posts, or not talking about my life, I just want to mix it up a little.
We’ll see. For now, remember to floss before you brush, and wish us well. Boy-o goes in the U or Iowa Children’s tomorrow for another heart catheterization. We’ll have our fingers crossed, and could use any extra fingers you could spare.
Somebody has a case of the Mondays.

Today:
Boy-o’s cardiologist conferences with the pediatric cardiology team in Iowa City to discuss whether his current symptoms warrant (another) heart catheterization. He continues the antibiotics for his ear infection and nebulizer for bronchiolitis.
Queenie had blood tests and x-rays. Her leg and hip are not broken. It may be a muscle pull. If it’s not better in two days we test for leukemia. In the meantime she lays on the couch demanding snacks. She continues her antibiotics for her ear infection.
Bon Bon is a cheery delight… as he continues his antibiotics for his ear infection.
The Producer has been diagnosed with a sinus infection. He picks up his antibiotics this afternoon.
I’m fine, thanks.

Where to start? It’s amazing how you can be so busy and still get so little done. I’ve managed to do nothing of note other than become completely and irretrievably addicted to Ravelry, much to the detriment of the housework and probably those two kids. Wait, two? That doesn’t sound right… let me move this yarn…
Somehow I have also managed to catch every available virus this winter. It’s probably licking all those library books and sitting directly on the toilet seat at Walmart, but who knows, really? Right now I’ve got a new one brewing, right in the lungs and throat. Poor Queenie shares my pain, and at the tender age of 6 got her very first taste of puking at school. Luckily she missed the lunch lady and just gave the office floor a good coating. Who serves mozzarella sticks for lunch anyway?
So in the meantime, when I’m not hooking , I’m thinking about hooking. Also, Jonathan Coulton’s Brains.
